About Dr. Ehrensaft

Dr. Ehrensaft holds a doctorate in clinical psychology, and began conducting research and clinical practice in 1997.  Her research and professional publications have been published internationally and have focused on trauma and the development of resilience among children and adults.  She has been an invited to present her work locally, in Canada and in Europe.

 

Dr. Ehrensaft is originally from Montreal, Canada, where she trained at the University of Quebec at Montreal and in the Department of Transcultural Psychiatry of McGill University.  She completed her post-doctoral training at the Department of Psychiatry at Children's Hospital Oakland.

 

Dr. Ehrensaft has worked in the field of adoption and infertility for the past 15 years, providing pre-adoption workshops at Adoption Connection in San Francisco and presentations for adoption agencies and mental health agencies throughout the Bay Area.

 

Dr. Ehrensaft has taught undergraduate and graduate level courses on child and adult development, attachment, and cross-cultural psychology.  Her teaching and consultation positions have included the Access Institute, California School of Professional Psychology, the University of Quebec at Montreal, and the Department of Psychiatry at California Pacific Medical Center.

 

Dr. Ehrensaft has served on the Boards of both the Friends of the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis and the Northern California Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology.
